It’s the biggest night in fashion! The Metropolitan Museum of Art has officially opened the red carpet for the 2024 Met Gala. “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” this year’s display, looks at how technology might revitalize clothing that is too dated and delicate to wear again.
As night falls, you can catch all of the Met Gala 2024 looks right here. Tonight, attendees will approach the museum’s renowned steps wearing attire that pays homage to the event’s “The Garden of Time” dress code. The name of the evening’s dress code comes from a novel by J.G. Ballard about a count who, in order to slow down time and scarcity of flowers, chops a rose in his garden to fend off an enraged mob that is approaching his castle. Given the dystopian implications of the story and the exhibit’s focus on both the old and the new, we may anticipate a red carpet full of outfits ranging from techno-inspired to flowery, and perhaps even a few nods to Sleeping Beauty.
The Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum hosts the event, which is well-known for its extremely exclusive guest list. Though the identities of the participants are being kept under wraps, we do know that Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez, and Zendaya who is co-chairing the event with Anna Wintour of Vogue will walk the red carpet in their finest garden party attire. The world’s greatest singers, actors, models, athletes, and artists are among the other distinguished guests who will make their identities known eventually.
