With the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky, respectively, the two rookies have not wasted any time leaving their mark on the sport, while more seasoned players like A’ja Wilson have been lighting up the league with their performances.

However, NaLyssa Smith, Clark’s teammate, feels that even the big names may be performing better. Smith set an ambitious goal for herself to catch Wilson and Reese.

Smith has drawn attention with her penchant for a quick game and her ridiculous rebounding numbers. Her average of 11.9 points per game and her 6.9 rebounds make her an important player when it comes to getting the ball back.

However, the 23-year-old is currently concentrating on honing her craft after establishing a new goal for herself after the Fever defeated the Atlanta Dream 91-79 to win four games in a row.

“I want to be able to score double digits in every game again. Keep up the great rebounding, please. During the press conference after the game, Smith said, “I know I could be one of the best rebounders.”

In that game against Atlanta, Smith shot an incredible 58.8% from the field to score 21 points and grab nine rebounds, the closest he has gone this season to a double-double.

Although Smith’s average rebounding stats now place her 35th in the league, her performance over the previous two seasons suggests that she can raise those figures.

Smith placed sixth in the league with an average of 7.9 rebounds per game during her first campaign. She was even more effective the year before, pulling down 9.2 rebounds per game during the playoffs.

The two-time WNBA champion Wilson was superior to her both times, and the Indiana star has been motivated to go better as a result.

In addition to setting the lofty goal, she has challenged her to go after Reese, who is currently ranked thirty-one. Given how much better the Fever are getting each game, it might just be a matter of time.
