Boston — In addition to witnessing their team win a championship on Monday night, Celtics supporters also got to see Kyrie Irving get sent home during the NBA Finals.
In the championship round, Irving—who is the biggest villain in Boston—and the Mavericks lost 0-3 at TD Garden. Even after Irving left the Celtics in free agency five years ago, the talented but erratic player continues to enrage fans.
During the series, Irving did absolutely little to improve his standing with Boston fans, other from a few mediocre plays on the court. The day before Game 5, he talked about the Celtics “cult” and stated that he wasn’t impressed with the Boston fans in Game 1.
